This year at BCAL we are learning, as a community, to celebrate our talents in both the Arts and in academics. We have integrated our various pursuits, exploring the academic application to music, dance and the fine arts. Some of the results have been a mid-year showcase wherein viewers saw videos on the stop and frisk controversy, a collaboration with Digital Diaspora where students explored their cultural history, and a student produced cultural celebration on Haiti.
We’ve also had the opportunity to develop our high school student’s leadership skills through a newly created mentorship program which has successfully brought together our high school and middle school students.
We, as a community, are proud of our accomplishments so far and are excited to continue to “free ourselves” at BCAL.
