Walt Whitman represents their work at the SOS Arts to End Violence Festival

The filmmakers who created “The Undercover Girls Investigate the Trayvon Martin Case” were honored to see their work at the SOS Arts Festival.  They brought their friends, had a pizza picnic in Brower Park and saw a lot of great artwork from all around Brooklyn.

BCCP Arts Festival 2012

What an extraordinary event!  On Thursday, May 31st, 2012, students from all over Brooklyn descended on the Brooklyn College campus and gathered at BCAL to share music, videos, artwork, dance, theater and good times.   We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for exhibiting their talents and for creating such a vibrant community.

We ♥ buttons!

You may have noticed a lot of 7th and 8th graders walking around covered in buttons, on their bags, jackets, even in their hair.  My favorite part of this activity is how many students created buttons as gifts for their sisters, brothers, teachers and neighbors.  Thank you Isabel for letting us borrow the button-maker!

Little Monsters!

Every Tuesday, Miss O makes creations with us.  This week we made little monsters with GOOGLY eyes.  Check out some of our creations…

Monsters in the Park

Inspired by a myth about the sun and the moon, as well as a commercial that features a certain Ozzy Osbourne song, the students at MS 246 created this AWESOME animation. We spent a day cutting out shapes for our scenes, which turned into a nice day at the park (except for some brief inclement weather). The next day we animated the scene by using frame by frame animation. At the end of the day, some really adorable monsters showed up and ate everything in the scene.
