Sunset Park Senior Center
Some of our students visited Sunset Park Senior Center to help out for the day. We prepared lunch, served the seniors, and were on dish duty! The best part of the day was hearing the stories they had to tell. It was a fun day for both the students and the seniors.

Ian’s Truck Farm Comes to New Utrecht!
Ian Cheney from Wicked Delicate came to visit NU to show us his incredible truck farm! Instead of throwing away his grandfather’s old truck, he decided to make a moving farm out of it. He has made a documentary film about his exploits and drives around the city educating people on the benefits of organic farming, including better tasting food, saving money, and not wasting food. And, it’s not as hard as it looks! When asked if anyone had ever stolen anything from the truck, he said, yes, a plant. But it was returned the following week! Find out more at www.truck-farm.com. It's a jungle in there. While his truck is parked in the urban jungle, people have been adding their own additions to the truck farm, including many toy animals, including this tiger. Roaaar!

Earth Day Celebration
The Earth Day Celebration was a great display of the community coming together. The neighborhood come out with their families for earthly family fun. There was live music. Oil cans were used to make musical instruments. There was a demonstration showing the use of solar energy. They used a solar panel to charge an ipod touch. kids learned how to recycle. They played a recycle game were kids put trash in the right recycle trash cans. Kids also planted seeds. Families enjoyed puppets made from recycled materials with puppeteer Ronny Wasserstom.
